My entry this week features just one feather! I saw this one beautiful feather as I was walking by the water at Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore County, Maryland. It was a very short trail and one that my husband and I had partially walked on a couple of other occasions. If we had known how short of a trail it actually was then we would have walked it entirely previously. Although short it was very pretty and lead us to different views of the water and landscape.

Anyway, while on our way back I spotted this gorgeous feather. I believe it may have been a goose feather and it appeared that even the sunlight was casting a spotlight on it as to capture my eyes to where it was laying on the grass near the water.

It was quite a good size feather and in a still beautiful condition!

I stopped to photograph that one beautiful feather and my hand ventured close to it as I very much wanted to pick it up and take it home with me. I stopped though and left the feather where it lay. I knew avian influenza had been reported in some parts of Maryland. Probably, it was fine but I didn't want to take anything home with me that could affect Jimmy our Sun Conure. As my husband walked over he also said it was best to leave it where it was but man, oh man, it was one beautiful feather! 💖

Oh, it was my question if you pick it and made something of it. I did not seen goose around me yet, be it wild or domestic, but the feather dont look like its pigeon's - I agree that it might be from a goose. I feel your sorrow that you could not steal it home. 😇

Hi @portal-xenna and thank you very much! I hope you are doing great and are having a wonderful time on your summer holiday?! Lol..I think we were visiting at each others latest post and that was quite a pretty feather that you found as well! I think mine is probably a goose feather as we found other evidence of geese in this particular area. Last time we were here we didn't see any signs that geese visited this spot. They are abundant in a spot over a bridge there though. It is sad that the avian flu has killed so many Black Vultures in parts of Maryland. I read that waterfowl can be carriers which makes me cautious visiting spots that the geese frequent so sadly I left the one beautiful feather behind. Perhaps I was being overly cautious but best to be safe than sorry. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! 💖

Yes, its better be extra precautious, I agree with you on that. I never pick up pigeon's feathers myself, as I was told many times they are not, uhm... not the cleanest birds, and there might be health issues afterwards. But when I find a feather of a magpie, an owl or a cuckoo, I cannot resist the temptation and grab it.

My holidays are going well, but my iPhone 5... its battery processed badly for almost all the year of 2021 - a long time, and now eventually all of the phone became broken, completely. I cant listen to my music, cant take pics and chat, anything (only when my mom lets me to sit at her laptop), it's sad. Now I hope my parents will give me a new Xiaomi or G Pixel ❤️ as my birthday will be in two months 😍😍

Have a nice weekend too! Thanks a lot for supporting my post, now it is not so gloomy on the horizon!

One should be cautious and you did well leaving it there, but you are right, it is one very beautiful feather and quite big.
