Walking around a local pond you can often have funny moments. Recently, we spotted an Egyptian goose standing beside a 'disabled badge holder's only' post. The Egyptian goose has quite a striking appearance and a very distinctive honking call.
This is my entry to the #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 204 - Free theme.
Meanwhile, my village pond has been graced by a visiting red-crested pochard. Compared with the regular ducks it is quite striking so you can spot it from a distance. It appears to have made itself at home among the local mallards.
The pochard's presence on our village pond is quite rare. It is not often that we have such exotic looking birds. As a result, it has become a topic of conversation among the villagers. I think it is the most photographed bird on the village pond. It will be interesting to see if it sticks around. At the moment, it's not going anywhere.
Thank you to @nelinoeva and the Feathered Friend's team for the contest.
Thank you @hive-106444. 🙏
I think that is the first time I've seen this bird, striking.
Me too. 😁
The entry photo is spot on, but the pochard is really so great to have it around. Beautiful.
It seems to have made its home here. 🙂
