I fancied a bit of bird watching and seeing as though I've not contributed to #featheredfriends for awhile, off I went into the wood. Luckily, a few people had scattered some bird food about so it wasn't long before this little robin redbreast made an appearance.
Robins always remind me of winter, especially snow and of course Christmas. Apparently, years ago, postal workers dressed in red uniforms. The Victorians nicknamed them “robins”. Early Christmas card designs usually had postmen on the front in their red uniforms. Later on, it became robins with their red breasts. From them on robins became synonymous with Christmas. I think for me, as a child we only used to see robins during the winter, but we see them all year round now.
This little one stuck around long enough to get a few photos. They are so photogenic.
Even though I love taking photos of birds it can be so frustrating waiting to get the right shot. My patience is waning as I get older but it was worth sitting it out this time.
Those are some crisp shots right there. Well done!
Thank you. A lot didn't make the cut. 😉
Now I know that there are different species of Robin's in other countries and you can see the South African Robin in my current post.
But this one of yours is certainly also beautiful.
Lovely shots here my friend!
Thank you very much. They are so different aren't they!
My pleasure and yes, I have seen quite a few in other countries and they are all unique and beautiful.
Very nice shots of the bird in various moods! Very sharp photos!! Steady hands!!
I have to use a tripod else I'm stuffed! 😁
