Last week, we visited the Dearne Valley: Old Moor Nature Reserve, which is situated in the next county. As we wandered around the lakes, we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of some elusive bearded tits.
I don't think I have ever seen them before. Their appearance is quite distinctive, as is their behaviour. As per usual, the males stand out more with their black ‘moustaches’. In contrast, the females are of a more subdued colour, but still as lovely.
This is my entry to the Show Me A Photo (#SMaP) Contest Round 207 - Free Theme.
The birds darted about across the tops of reedbeds, landing on the swaying grasses, looking for food, using their tail for balance.
Photographing bearded tits can be a bit of a challenge, but it was well worth it. Patience is a virtue as they say.
Thank you to @nelinoeva and the Feathered Friend's team for running the contest.
🙂❤️
beautiful shots!
Thank you @phage93. 🙏
What a lovely creature! You're lucky I must say as I never get to capture birds :(
It's a nice hobby, but they can be a pain sometimes. 😄
