Watching a Short-eared owl flying nearby

Lake Neusiedler in Eastern Austria is a birding hotspot and from time to time I visit this place for some photography of birds and other animals there. In the evening hours just befor sunset there is a short eared owl flying around her territory and I managed to take several pictures of this bird since it was flying there for several minutes with only few stops when trying to catch a mouse in the grass. I had several opportunities to take some pictures of this beautiful bird. It tends to fly only feet above the ground in open fields and grasslands until swooping down upon its prey feet-first

I can still remember that this was a very nice situation for me and I want to get there again soon. But still my caleder is very full of appointments, holidays and trips this year are allready planned. Maybe in Autumn I will still find some time to visit Lake Neusiedler again. Unfortunately this spring I didn't have enough time for a visit there, and I have to admit that the wather also wasn't that nice that it was good for a visit during my free time that was still left this spring.
