Watching the colorful Bee-Eaters at their home spot

in Feathered Friends2 years ago

The Bee-Eaters are one of the most colorful birds here in Austria along with the Kingfisher and the blue roller. I met them already on different spots here and I am always very happy when I am able to watch them and take some pictures of these colorful birds here. As I already know some spots where they nest and where I can get close to them without disturbing them too much. Stefan and I visited this spot for several times this last weekend and I am happy that I was able to get some really nice pictures of these beautiful birds again. They have such a colorful plumage and act really nice when sitting on branches after they hunt bees and other Insects.

If you are patient enough and lie down on the ground or sit still you reall can get some amazing pictures that are really close. I wated for several hours infront of their breeding hill and took some really nice pictures that I want to show you here.

Since they are so colorful they are really popular among wildlifephotographers like me. There are some well known spots and some not so well known spots here in Austria and these pictures were made on one of the not so pupular spots and I will not tell the location since I want them to be able to breed as undisturbed as possible.

They have a very nice call when you get closer to them and seeing them flying in the wind hunting for insects is very pleasing to the eye. And if you have luck there is also a bit of a wind and whenever they fly against the forces of the wind they are slower than usual and taking some inflight pictures of them is easier.

Wonderful ! 😍

Thank you.

Marvelous photos!
The bee eaters are so colourful. Indeed, there are not many birds in Europe as colourful as them.
Sometimes I can hear them without seeing, when they fly above. 🙂

Yes their colors are amazing. I am happy that I have The oportunity to visit them.

I love them all but the one you got flying with the bee in it's mouth... total wall hanger.Very Nice @florian-glechner, those are awesome shots.
