Hello Hivers
House Sparrow
A very successful invasive species in the Americas. They survive mostly in the vicinity of people. A very social bird, they feed.....
in flocks and often on the ground, where they hop rather then walk.
They are not related to other North American sparrows and are easy .....
to identify, with their grey cap, short stout beak, and large rounder head.
Thanks to Cornell Lab of Ornithology for the map.
Green - Resident
Yellow - Introduced
Great photos! I am always somewhat surprised when I look at them closely how pretty they really are! They are so common that we tend to not pay attention to them but they do deserve a second look.
