With about 35 species of sparrows, this is an easier one to identify. The russet stripe through the head and eye line, and most noticeably the .....

spotted breast, that converge to a single spot.

There are large differences in size and coloration, but they have a high rate of .....

immigration and emigration, this helps keep the genetics similar.

Across the U.S. Song Sparrows share the same call notes which are genetically hard-wired and the same, but their songs vary with different dialects from region to region and the birds in the west are much lighter colored than the eastern birds. A cool species. Thanks.
