How much wood does a wood duck chuck?

in Feathered Friends2 days ago (edited)

Ah, the wood duck. What can we say about this noble creature? The male is regal with an extravagant coat and and majestic crown. Its facial markings are wonderful and its body look so sleek.

The female is less showy with a brownish breast and elegant eye ring.

These ducks were swimming in the lake. As I knelt on a pier to get a shot, they approached me and regarded me with their intense gaze. I think people feed them, so they always come around to see if one has any seeds.

They usually lay 10-13 eggs two times during the nesting season between April and August (Best, 2016).

Thank you!

These ducks are so beautiful, your photos are amazing.

Thank you! It was a beautiful afternoon with sunlight casting shadows through the forest and the reeds.

They are really beautiful and the light illuminates them in a special way, plus they got close and that's wonderful!

The light is weaker this time of year, so it creates a deeper hue in the afternoon. The clever birds approach you if you get close to the shore. :)

I love it, they were beautiful photos!

This really is an amazing duck display.

It was great seeing them gliding gently across the water. They didn't seem to be in a hurry to go anywhere.
