Hello everyone, another day here, sharing with you. On this occasion I want to show you some photographs that I take of some very interesting birds and that I hope you like.
No matter how much you think you know all the bird species that live in your area, you will always see some that you did not know or had not seen until now, that is what happened to me not long ago.
It turns out that I was returning home after going for a walk with my maiden dog like every day, we always do the same route in winter, about eight or ten kilometers a day.
Just when we were going through a bridge that crosses the river, I noticed that on a branch there were some very large black birds that I was not able to recognize from a distance, so I started to look with the zoom of the camera but I couldn't understand either what species was that big bird
Until I got home and began to investigate a bit, I did not realize that it was a cormorant or by its scientific name Phalacrocorax carbo, and that apparently they are not native to the area, but rather migratory birds.
This is a very impressive bird to see due to its size and the shape of its beak that makes it unmistakable once you see it for the first time, in future posts I will try to talk a little about its behavior and characteristics, for now that was all.
Cormorants are very cool birds. Sometimes they perch with open wings, to help feathers dry; that helps with the identification from far.
Yes, you are right, they are very interesting and striking birds, thanks for commenting.
