The heat prevents us from going out so I post this from my files.
A wet and wild Loerie eating in the rain and that is not a cage behind him, as it is a garden fence. We used to feed them in our garden at our previous home.
We are all now praying for rain as it has been devilishly hot these past few days. According to the weather bureau the heat will continue for the rest of this month, albeit at a few lesser degrees. Still up in the 30+Cs though.
So the best for us is to drink a lot of water and to stay indoors, which is very difficult for me.
But come and look at the birds in here.
I will identify the birds as we go along and in the photo below is an incoming Bul-Bul (Pycnonotus nigricans) and the guy watching him is a Barbet (Trachyphomus vaillantii)
Here we have a Barbet at the back and an Olive Thrush (Turdus olivaceus) at the front.
This was our baby rescue during a storm and its a baby Speckled Mousebird (Colius striatus)
After the storm, we put the little guy out in the sun and eventually his mother came to collect him.
This is what an angry Loerie looks like when the fruit tray is empty and he sat screaming at me for food.
Oh, I forget the new Loerie specie name is Turaco (Corythaixoides concolor), also in the first photo. Due to their calls they are also known as the Grey go-away birds.
Finally here we have Marian (my wife) with a live Peacock showing her his colors at a lodge in the Drakensberg mountains.
All of the photos were taken when we still lived faraway up north in the country. Since then we have moved down to the Western Cape Province where I have shown you a new and vast variety of birds over the past 3 years that we are now down here. Interesting that there are different birds to be found in each of the provinces in South Africa.

As always nice birds, my friend - the baby mousebird looks somehow like an old colleague of mine, sitting at the table waiting for food 😉
And the Loerie ... I hope you have feeded him immediately, he looks very angry 😡

The Loeries are very loud and demanding birds and yes, Marian filled the fruit tray very quickly.
I have a photo somewhere that shows that same Loerie eating out of my hand 😊

Cool, a bird shouts and the humans run to feed him ... who's the boss? The bird is the boss and I think that's great 😉

Of course, we always have all kinds of bosses and if it's not the birds, then the squirrels also think that they are our bosses.

And in winter it's the other way around, it's a lot colder here. The only good thing is that we can put on more clothes to stay warm and you can't take more off than you have on ... I think we have discussed that before 😂 !LOLZ
