Post goes for 'Show me photo (of a bird)' contest, round #23 topic was 'Bird Silhouette'.
As I walk in the park recently quite often, equipped with telephoto lens, I decided to take new pics for the given topic.
I tried the pigeons to save my post again,
... but not much success came out of this.
As you can see: those pigeons that I found in a static position (i.e. they don't chase after food) are too static! they don't pose well, don't demonstrate me their funny profile.
Let me present some nice visuals of starlings instead.
Those birdies were hiding in a bush and I normally dont venture to take a decent photo of them, but this time I needed a silhouette - so, I thought: why not? And I think I got what I needed, with this image.
(I provided a cropped close-up version for the contest).
But these were not the highlight captures of the day, very pleasurable frames, bokehlicious and such, but actually nothing special. The ones I loved most, were some feeding scenes.
Maybe this is not any good at all; ofc its out of focus (sparrows rush like hell, they have to be fast, to overcome starlings and pigeons in this rivalry for the free food giveaway that we were running)... but I damn love this. I love how my Sigma 150mm macro lens do their job! Perhaps the result would not be this appealing to me, If I would use my 70-300mm Canon tele, its quite mediocre ... tho it gives me 300mm on the long end.
And, yes, this is shot with just 150mm. I was hiding behind a tree, and my boss was running the bread giveaway - so the shy birdies were not afraid to come closer, right behind my lens.
Profit! I love this sort of a joint venture. And day by day I convince my babygirl to write down her side of the story and to make a post - but she is reluctant person... Right now she prefer to spend the 'real' money, instead of earning the illusory crypto tokens.
I was lucky enough to observe (and photograph) a scene where mother starling is feeding mouth-to-mouth her baby starling, who already knows how to fly, but can do it badly, and prefers to jump on the ground after the parent and loudly demand: "Let me eat! Gimme gimme some!"
And of course, a hungry pigeon entered in, to spoil my best frame
;)
Ok, I think this is more than enough, I have more deals todo tonight. More shots from this splendid session will be posted another day, after editing.
I add my beloved Feathered Friends community as a 10% beneficiary of the post.

I see you had a lot of fun selecting these photos. 😀
The pigeons may not be the heros of the day, but their silhouettes are nice. However, the silhouette of the satrling is really outstanding.
Grazie Mille! yes, I had my fun doing the selection, and doing editing, too.
классные фото!
"Что за глупый скворец"? ;)
Чего это он с воробьями и голубями решил затусить?
Кстати... это ты решил китов привлечь к посту? ;)
