This post goes for 'Show me your photo (of a bird)' contest, round #48.
Week's topic was 'Reflections Birds'.
This is a coot duck. They can be very spectacular.
Last time I presented you her portraits in black-and-white, and this time they made my post again. (Tho I still have some other birdie representatives in the rest of my photo-story, as well). This is the photo I assort and provide for the contest. I am pretty much in love with it, with this half-abstract and textured outlook. And below is the reflection of the photo above (mirrored).
A lot of reflections!
I am in love with the way this duck casts the shadow onto ice... not because it is something special or outstanding -- just because it is fresh, looks like different than what we always have in case of the water reflections. Simple as that!
Mummy with her little newborn ducklings - probably giving a lesson of how not to fear of the water. Isnt it touchy?
This is great crested grebe portrait with some sufficient reflection in the background.
One more cute photo of a coot duck. I have so many in my folders that I cant stop, really.
Now you maybe want to ask me, where or how did I managed to get so many luxurious close-ups? The answer is simple: both coots and grebes like to make their nests in the reeds in the local park, two families arrive there every spring. And they make nests not far from the coast, literally at a distance of 1-2 meter; at such a distance, even my mediocre 300mm telephoto lens can do a decent job and bring a nice capture (if the weather was nice and sunny).
PS. Some of these shots are made with Canon 70-300mm, and some are Sigma 150mm (my main macro lens). Hope you enjoyed this little post. Cheers!

What a nice collection of reflections. How cool is to include the ones with the ice.
The close-ups are really wonderful.
