SMALL BIRD

Looking through my photos I found many tiny birds who visit my back deck. The little sparrow comes by quite frequently. His feathers are fluffed out - it’s a bird’s way to keep warm.

The little chickadee is always delightful to see. The small cute rotund bird is a year round visitor but only visits my deck when the weather turns cold.





Chickadee checks to see if any peanuts left on the deck after the Blue Jays have devoured most of them.





The Hummingbird only visits in the warm weather. Now that it is winter in Canada, the small bird has headed South to warmer climates.

Lovely photos of these pretty birds. I like most the first picture. I can literally feel the cold while looking at the photo. Brrrr And I didn't know that birds fluff their feathers to keep warm. The sparrow really looked so fat and cute 🥰

Thanks @gems.and.cookies. Yes it seems we all adapt to our environment-the fluffing or puffing up let’s birds trap air in their feathers and the more trapped air, the warmer the bird.

Thanks dear Hannes. Yes I am already waiting for spring and the return of the hummers. It is surprising how many birds do stay around all seasons.

I love seeing the chickadee. It’s hard for them to get the peanuts as a group of Blue Jays always have a eye peeled for anything I put out.

Thanks for your concern A.G. @agmoore. I am well but have been busy with another project. A friend is writing a book on the women of Western New Brunswick and asked me to contribute. I have added stories on seven different women . This has kept me busy gathering photos, information and remembering funny episodes. Mostly I wrote in 1st person as these are women I had interacted with in their lifetime.

We are having colder weather now than in January but the sun is shining brightly this morning.
