Hello everyone.
Earlier for the #SMaP I posted photos of our duck pair. Now we have more ducks. Female duck started to sit on the eggs and after almost a month (not sure exact number - maybe 28 or 29 days) two ducklings hatched.
Ducklings are lovely. I remember as a kid I had book with this cute little duckling on the photo but we never had any ducks. And now after so many years ducklings are here.
These are photos of ducks at the first. They are very good as natural pest control.
These two would go around the garden and check everything.
After female duck started to sit on the eggs male duck would sit on the entrance of the nest and would guard the nest and female duck.
To me me most interesting part was when female duck would leave the nest. So female duck would leave the nest in the morning and at evening.
Male duck would not leave her until female duck gets ready and leaves the nest.
Here comes interesting part. Before leaving the nest female duck would tuck away and hide the eggs. Rarely you could see them and usually she covers them with hay and stuff in the nest.
That would look like this.
Sometimes you could not even see them. Chicken dont do this (but they dont leave eggs unattended as much as ducks).
This is photo of the morning when ducklings hatched. First one to hatch was the one near the duck. And some time after this we noticed one more duckling hatched but it fell of from the nest. In this photo you can see it on the left top corner. First one was out of the nest in the morning as well. We put it back in the nest and check them later.
And later these were the scenes.
They are so lovely. As food we give them hard boiled eggs for now. They love it.
Here they are only three days old.
They are so funny when they are out. They try to follow the adult ducks and they have to run to catch up with them.
Here they are five days old.
They follow parent ducks and imitate what they do.
So funny to watch them.
You could sit and just watch them all day.
Duckling are so funny and adorable.
It is interesting to have the ducks and duclkings.
