Owls are only visible at night either sitting on tree or hunting down on its prey. I personally never had a chance to closely watch a owls except in zoo, untill last weekend. We had a surprise visitor at my sister's place where I went to attend a family function. The OWL venture inside the house through window. We ended up catching it after trapping him inside room by shutting down all the window. All credits goes to my nephew who is bit quicker in all notorious activity.
We were bit afraid of catching it, as it looks bit scary and also, owls are considered to be auspicious in Hindu. An owls represents the vehicle of goddess Lakshmi, who is associated with wealth, properity and good fortune. Somewhere at back of the mind we were bit worry of any dire consequences. But we decided to catch it for few hours, later it ended in a day.
Once we had it, we did little bit of photo shoot. The owls seems to be scared now finding himself inside a cage. An owls always loves to be free and hardly every seen anyone keeping it at home as pet. Infact it is illegal in india to keep OWL at home. But this one is an unexpected visitor, so meant to take care of it a bit. These species of birds usually seen at night. The best thing about an OWL is that it can turn its head upto 360°.
We tried to be friendlier, but he seems to be little stuck. On closer we found it has white dots in entire body. The size of the bird is not big. On googling the image, we found that thes3 kind of species is known as barn owl. It one of the most widespread of all species of birds in Indian subcontinent. These species of OWL has *excellent low-light vision, and can easily find prey at night by sight from far away distance. These species are also known for its ability to locate their prey easily ere sound of it. They have good hearing capacity. That allow them to find its prey and hunt them easily.
We tried to feed him with many things, we bought some non-veg raw pi3ces from.nesrby shops. But the bird seems determined not to eat anything. We kept him for a day with us. We offer every kind of food but he didn't ate anything. It was very unpleasant behaiour from tye guest. But may be who wants to live in boundaries. Especially the birds who always aims to fly in sky.
We were keen to keep it for longer but his determination not to eat anything let us to free him. I think he mostly likes to prey on live animal and never feed on dead animal. This is where we were doing wrong things. Looking at his behaviour we o ly assume it to prey his own food than giving in freebies.
It is hard to understand the animal behaviors. The owls remained confined to the cage for a day. He neither ate anything nor drink water. So at last we were ready to set it free. Once he get out of the cage, he know from where he get inside and quickly found its way out. We open the window to set him free.
It was a good experince for all of us to learn the natural habits of these species of birds who know how sustain life of its own.
when I was a child I cared for and fed baby barn owls that were left without their mothers because the nest was in an old attic that builders were renovating.
When they got old enough my father took them to a wildlife rescue center.

Awesome so lovely....we have few in our home inside a tree..they were not barn...they were much smaller in size..appears to be whitish...
!DHEDGE and the !BEER as an extra. Owl are fantastic creatures - never happened to see them in the wild even once, heh...
They were the night watchers....never seen in day....
Their eyes are so powerful. ❤😍 They’re amazing. They look mythical,😊I love his face and his eyes. Soooooocute.
Yes...one of the pretty looking powerful species of birds, which are untraceable during day time
It's very rare to see owls in the morning, but I saw one in the morning when it was caught in a net in one of the rice fields here, maybe it was hunting at night but it didn't realize that it fell into the net while doing it. Our neighbor caught it and they tried to feed it fish but it didn't eat it. They kept a live frog with it and that became his snack.
Yes vulture or eagle may feed on dead animals but an OWL always eat fresh meat...this is what we learn too....we can't get a live flesh so have to set him.free.
Wow, such a cutie! I have seen an owl just one time, and it was during nighttime, so I wasn't able to see how it actually looks in person. Thanks for sharing this one. 🥰
It appears cute with black eye and white face.....but as you go farther it may scare you
Yes, I actually got scared HAHAHAHAHA. I didn't figure out that it was an owl at first, not until I saw its very bright eyes. But somehow, I want to see an owl in the morning. 😂
