Hi guys, this post is about Scaly-breasted Bulbul (Pycnonotus squamatus). This species is one of the typical songbirds that can be found in the tropical rainforests of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula. With unique feathers that resemble scales on the chest, this bird is one of the species that steals the attention of bird watchers.

This bird has a body size of around 14-16 cm, with the main characteristic being a "scaly" pattern on the chest that gives a different aesthetic impression compared to other bulbul species. Its head and back are olive brown, while its irises are reddish. Its chirping sound is soft, often heard as part of the tropical forest symphony.

Scaly-breasted Bulbul inhabits lowland forests up to an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. This bird is often found on the edge of the forest, especially in areas that have many flowering and fruiting trees. They usually live in pairs or small groups, actively looking for food such as small fruits, nectar, and insects.
