Hello Hello Hivers and Bird Lovers
Welcome to a wee spot of grass watching in this blog, well more precisely birdoes on the grass, and I mean the feathered kind, as it is still too cold in Scotland for the other to be sunbathing on the grass yet!
This is for #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 64, with the theme:
BIRDS IN THE GRASS
This will be a blog mostly of aquatic feathered friends.
First up and a friendly face from my local park is Dafty the Pomeranian Duck, her could have a whole blog or three to himself, but I will just have the one picture of him and use that as the contest entry!
Dafty The Pomeranian Duck
Next up and still on the duck theme are three wee ducks wondering what is going on in front of them!
The first three pictures are all taken in Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy in Scotland, so no exotic birds for me anyway here.
This next one is a wee seagull looking at all the birds frolicking on the water in front of him, wondering why they won't let him join in. Doesn't he look a wee bit sad?
After I feed the ducks and swans I move away from the pond to a little garden where I eat my lunch and feed the non aquatic birds. All these pictures have been taken before I got my new camera so some are not the best close-up wise!
This was a little jackdaw pretending not to see us so he could turn round and eat the food I had left for him.
This park has a pair of resident mute swans named Susie and Stevie Swan, this was them last year with some of their babies. They actually had seven cygnets, but one never made it and so there was six. I called the pies and they had various pie names such as cutiepie, this was them have a break from the sun and getting some sleep.
This next picture is Mr and Mrs Swan guarding their babies when they were a bit older. Do you see how Susie and Stevie are in opposite directions, that way they have 360 degree protection of their babies. Stevie is sitting on a path that goes round the pond and is frequented by walkers and dogs, although most do give them a wide berth.
This next one shows a couple of Greylag geese heading off to the carpark for a quick getaway!
This was a park in Lurgan in Northern Ireland. Often a stretch of water is only inhabited by one breeding pair of mute swans, however these Northern Irish cousins of Susie and Stevie Swan are much more friendly and they cohabitate in their wee Swan commune!
This group of female Mallard ducks were all gossiping and judging poor Dudley's performance. Look at all the feathers displaced burning their bouts of play, Dudley was a busy boy!
And here is Dudley, the star gigilo himself, having a well earned nap after his strenous activities satisfying his horde of female ducks!
So there we have it, a fun collection of some aquatic feather friends on grass as my entry to Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 64Feathered Friends community. , click to see the original post from @nelinoeva in the

I'm so amazed at how well you know your variety of feathered friends, Tito Ed! They all look awesome there! Thank you for taking us along with your adventure with them. All the best i the contest.
ah well my father and great aunt were birdwatchers CJ and these are all common to me, although some other ones I am taking pictures of with new camera I double check occasionally the name!
Ah, that explains why. It's awesome that you got a lot of them close to where you live. I can imagine your new cam's memory is filled with photos of them hehe
yes memory card is full haha and I keep deleting if not good enough!
Haha, that's a small predicament, or big is it? Buy more mem cards, lol!
haha I was tempted to, but this one is big so it is fine really
haha, that's awesome then! Good morning to you
Nice set of pic of feathered friends. I miss Dafty and the pies so much :(
But Dudley and his girls sure make for more than one story, LOL.
Yes I miss Dafty and all those pies :(
MY walk on Monday in a different place was really really interesting as I found something out concerning pies and parents,
Hehe Dudley had that smooth Northern Irish accent that had the girls going!
So that Monday's walk promises a nice story :)
Hehe! I'm not sure I can tell that accent apart, but you've piqued my curiosity!
Oh it is totally different and I slip back into it every so often!
Oh, well, you could record me an audio with your different accents to learn the differences. jeje! ;)
oh jeje perhaps I shall, that is a good idea 🤣🎤
Jaja!!! you shall. I need to practice my British accent 😉😉😄😆
This got me laughing so hard. Mr and Mrs Swan? 😂 😂 😂..

Hello friend, long time no see. I was out of coverage but I'm back and decided to stop by your site. I love your birds, swans, ducks of different species, I like the blue-collared, I like your gull. Nice all your regions visited and full of feathered birds on the grass.
The birds are fascinating and fun to see anytime, even on the grass and not in the water.
Have a wonderful weekend😀Hi @gertu and I glad you are back and visited😀
Thanks my friend.
My pleasure :)
I can see ducky again 🤣
Dafty and not been seen for a few months!
Da heck?! Did you say wee? Horde of females? Harem... Ha! How can he have a harem when I don't even have a finger?👀...
Why is seagull sad? Why can't he join in?
Those two have synchronicity i guess... What I hope for with my own mate... Da!
You gotta like harems😀
I did say wee and I never mentioned your finger haha
