The diary of the bird

in Feathered Friends2 years ago

Where I currently live is a two-story house, the lower part belongs to my mother-in-law and where we all currently live, the upper part is where I am building a home for my wife and daughters. One day it occurred to me to sleep at the top of the house which I did, the next morning a sound woke me up, someone was knocking on the window.

I was still between asleep and awake but I was about to go out to meet the visitor when I suddenly realized that that window was more than 5 meters from the ground, so either someone over 5 meters tall came to visit me, or someone he was using a ladder to call me (which was even weirder than the above) or someone with wings was outside my window.

In any case, the knocks on the window kept ringing and the only way to find out what it was was to go out and see, so a little confused and wondering if I had really woken up or if it was a dream, I left the room to go to the window where the event was taking place, to my surprise there was a bird pecking at the glass.!

Was he pecking at the glass to call me? Of course not! Birds don't do that, so suddenly I got a little curious, what was going through that bird's head to want to crash its beak against something as hard as the glass of my window, it could even hurt itself with such a practice.

Of course I'm not the only one this has happened to, that's the first thing I thought. There must even be a lot of information on the internet about it and although I had already formulated my own hypothesis I decided to investigate a bit, in fact I found an article that offered a theory:

One theory proposes that when a bird sees its reflection in a window or other shiny surface it assumes it is a rival and will attack in an attempt to take it away. In addition to pecking at the window, the bird may rake it with its talons, fly against it, or hit her with his wings

So it was as I supposed, that bird was looking at its reflection in the window, maybe it bothered him that someone as handsome as him existed, imagine that you go around and find someone who is identically like you, I refuse to believe that you can continue indifferent as if you had not seen him. For this bird it was something very unexpected because since then I see it very often in the window.

I even think he spends most of the day looking at his reflection, it's like an obsession of being there fighting with himself, in fact the photos I'm using in this article were taken on different days.

Sometimes I just look at him thinking, it's good that birds don't have a monetary system because otherwise this bird would already be in ruins thanks to his obsession, I think we both spend a lot of time upstairs, I busy with housework and he busy to show his rival who is stronger and more beautiful
