You and I ... Tri-colored Munia: My wildlife photo, species info and musings

in Feathered Friends3 years ago (edited)

Love is when you sit beside someone doing nothing, yet you feel perfectly happy.

Tri-colored Munia or the Lonchura malacca is a colorful bird that has always fascinated me. Though seen commonly in the Asian region in the winter season prominently, it is not an easy thing to get a nice photo at all. More about the bird and it's habitat etc. later.

What triggers my emotions about this particular photograph is that this particular pair seemed to hang out everywhere. I was chasing a flock of 7-8 of them to try and get a clean shot without any sticks or leaves etc. obstructing them. The flock went and landed in several places in 1-2 hours with me trailing them quietly.

I even got this lovely shot of 7 of them in one frame once that I titled 'the magnificent Seven' 😀

The Magnificent Seven!

It was a wonderful sight with nice golden sunlight and the 7 posing well for me. However, I was still intrigued by one pair which was always together.

Seeing that pair, all I could think of was that I must get a great portrait shot of them together.

So - after an hour of chase and some 6000 steps of running around stealthily after them. I saw them land on a small tree branch. I crept as close as possible through grass, a bit scared of lurking snakes that creep out to warm themselves on winter mornings and got this shot
