It has been nearly three years since our move from the Netherlands to Australia, and the house is still a bit of a power cabling mess of adaptors and powerboards... some of of electrical applicances are still the EU plugs, and all the new stuff that we got since coming back are obviously the Australian plugs... thankfully, we don't have to deal with different voltages or timings so all of the adaptors are simple shape changers instead of being step up/downs as well... but does mean that some of the outlets are not fully used due to a bulky adaptor taking up the space for two plugs.
... and then there are the slightly dodgy EU powerboards that are daisy chained to an Australian powerboard... Not too bad in this day and age for light appliances where we aren't going exceed 2400W of output power... but not ideal at all.
So, along with a big cable cleanup was the resolve to sort out this mess for once and for all... or at least make a sizeable dent in it. Ordering a batch of Australian powerboards, and a bunch of C7 and C13 power cables with Australian plug ends...
... and now that they are all here, all the chargers and things with EU C7/C13 ends were swapped out with Australian C7/C13 ends... so, multi-USB chargers and laptop bricks... which meant that there were fewer EU ends needed... and that meant that a whole heap of EU powerboards got retired.
... then the dedicated chargers that went to cameras and that sort of thing... swapped out for similar AU plugged ends with the right power outputs... I can't wait for USB-C to be the universal standard... but that said, we did buy a lot of this stuff before it was more widely adopted.
All in all, there were about five EU powerboards that were retired, and a bunch of adaptors as well... the electrical cabling in the house is less messy... and less risky as well. Especially in the bedrooms and study. The last thing to tackle will be the laundry one where we still have the EU chargers for the e-bike batteries... I think that those will be a relatively easy swap out once I find the right bricks for them...
... but I did notice that at least one of the e-bike batteries isn't charging properly... and that could be a pretty expensive replacement. Pooop.... that is what you get for not maintaining the batteries with some charge over two years....
