Les cuento que hace años, como en el 2008, tuve la oportunidad de jugar un juego en mi vieja PlayStation 2, que sin yo saberlo y de una manera inconsciente, sembró en mí una pasión por los juegos de gestión y estrategia militar que tanto les he mencionado en mis anteriores publicaciones. Este juego se llama Samurai Warriors 2 Empires, está ambientado en el Japón feudal y nos permite experimentar batallas épicas y la gestión del imperio de Japón. Aunque en ese entonces no comprendía completamente todas sus características debido a mi edad y a la barrera del idioma, ya que el juego está solo en inglés, me dejó una impresión duradera.

Hello, dear friends of Hive! I tell you that years ago, as in 2008, I had the opportunity to play a game on my old PlayStation 2, that without me knowing it and in an unconscious way, planted in me a passion for management and military strategy games that I have mentioned so much in my previous publications. This game is called Samurai Warriors 2 Empires, it is set in feudal Japan and allows us to experience epic battles and the management of the empire of Japan. Although at the time I did not fully understand all of its features due to my age and the language barrier, as the game is only in English, it left a lasting impression on me.
Cómo no recordar esas tardes que me pasaba jugando este juego en mi PlayStation 2, “matando fiebre” como decimos en Venezuela. Me encantaba la complejidad y la profundidad del juego. Aunque no entendía todas las instrucciones y diálogos, la sensación de comandar un ejército y tomar decisiones estratégicas era algo nuevo para mí y por eso me mantenía enganchado. Cada batalla era una oportunidad para aprender algo nuevo, y cada victoria, por pequeña que fuera, me llenaba de una satisfacción indescriptible.

How could I not remember those afternoons I spent playing this game on my PlayStation 2, “killing fever” as we say in Venezuela. I loved the complexity and depth of the game. Although I didn't understand all the instructions and dialogues, the feeling of commanding an army and making strategic decisions was something new to me and that's why it kept me hooked. Every battle was an opportunity to learn something new, and every victory, no matter how small, filled me with indescribable satisfaction.
Samurai Warriors 2 Empires es un juego que combina acción y estrategia. Nos permite revivir importantes momentos de la historia japonesa a través de batallas en tiempo real y la gestión de recursos. Los jugadores pueden controlar a varios personajes históricos y liderar sus ejércitos en campañas épicas. La narrativa del juego está llena de intrigas políticas y alianzas, lo que añade una capa extra de emoción a cada decisión que tomamos.

Con el paso del tiempo, dejé mi consola en el olvido al tener una computadora que mis padres me regalaron cuando empecé mis estudios en la universidad. En esa computadora, además de estudiar, la usaba bastante para jugar videojuegos. A lo largo de los años, llegue a jugar juegos que ofrecían una mezcla de gestión y estrategia, sin darme cuenta de que mi interés por estos géneros había nacido de aquellas primeras experiencias en el Japón feudal que ofrecía el juego mencionado.

As time went by, I left my console in oblivion when I got a computer that my parents gave me as a gift when I started my studies at the university. On that computer, besides studying, I used it a lot to play video games. Over the years, I came to play games that offered a mixture of management and strategy, without realizing that my interest in these genres was born from those early experiences in feudal Japan that the aforementioned game offered.
Recientemente, sintiendo nostalgia, decidí ir en busca de ese viejo juego y darle otra oportunidad. Con una mejor comprensión del inglés y una mente más madura esta vez, pude apreciar verdaderamente la riqueza del juego. La mecánica de gestión de recursos, la planificación estratégica y la ejecución táctica de la batalla eran mucho más claras para mí ahora. Me di cuenta de que, inconscientemente, este juego había moldeado mis preferencias y habilidades en lo que respecta a los videojuegos.

Recently, feeling nostalgic, I decided to go in search of that old game and give it another try. With a better grasp of English and a more mature mind this time around, I could truly appreciate the richness of the game. The mechanics of resource management, strategic planning and tactical battle execution were much clearer to me now. I realized that, unconsciously, this game had shaped my preferences and abilities when it came to video games.
Incluso ahora, me siguen gustando mucho los juegos de estrategia y gestión militar, como mis favoritos actuales: Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron 4 y Crusader Kings 3. Esta lista se queda corta, ya que hay muchos más juegos que me gustan mucho, pero no los he podido jugar aún por no tener una buena computadora. Sin embargo, siempre recordaré con cariño aquel primer juego de mi PlayStation 2 que despertó esta pasión en mí.

Even now, I still love strategy and military management games, such as my current favorites: Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron 4 and Crusader Kings 3. This list is an understatement, as there are many more games that I really like, but I haven't been able to play them yet because I don't have a good computer. However, I will always remember fondly that first game on my PlayStation 2 that awakened this passion in me.
