I'd certainly be interested to hear your homeschool-v-school experiences. I've met a kid or 3 who are being homeschooled and they seemed to me brighter and more forthcoming. That may be a case of confirmation bias since I consider the school system not fit for purpose.

Home-schooled kids have a popular stereotype to overcome, with much of the public considering them sheltered and neglected. My experience is one of broader enrichment through libraries, museums, and interaction with a wide range of people, and I think the majority of home-schoolers have similar experiences. Why malign that instead of a regimented life run by faceless bureaucrats with a pace set to the least common denominator and segregation by age? Working at my own pace on required subjects while pursuing my interests helped me develop my individuality instead of the mindless conformity I perceive to be encouraged by government education mandates and school cliques.
