This new year has started with very low temperatures and a lot of snow in Oslo. Today I had to take my workout to the treadmill, unfortunately. This was my first real run of the year, and with it my 2025 running year is off to a decent start.
Today, my run plan was:
- 10 minute warmup
- 3x 1 mile at slightly slower than my 5 km pace, 3 min recovery.
- 10 minute cooldown.
For the mile intervals I put the treadmill on 14 km/h - 4:17 pace. The 3 minutes recovery were run at 9 km/h - 6:40 pace.
I tracked my run with a Garmin Forerunner 255 and a Garmin HRM-Pro Plus chest strap. My pace and HR charts looked like this:
The pace tracking was decent enough this time, at least for the faster parts of the run. It does miss quite a bit for the recovery intervals. At the final interval my HR was getting into the higher parts of zone 4 for me, so I was quite satisfied with the pace I decided on.
My run took a total of 47 minutes and covered 9 km (5.6 miles). At the end I was sweating quite heavily; my local gym has the heater on a couple of degrees more that I'd prefer 😅.
I was decently satisfied with my performance today. I have not had the greatest training weeks lately, but I could complete this workout without much of a struggle mentally or physically. No aches or pains today either.
That's my workout for today! Thank you for your attention!

Digging this fitness post. Have you checked out @actifit?
I have considered it, but not done enough research on it yet. You need a separate app on the phone for it right?
The tracking through the app isn't great and I didn't like the battery drain. But you can sync it to FitBit or AppleWatch when you make your daily actifit post to verify totals for the tracking service.
I just use the opportunity (and framework) to post a daily journal of my day, with a fun combo of activity, pictures, and whatever other nonsense I'm known to ramble on about. Today I just posted about yesterday's trip to The Guggenheim!
