Feliz noche amigos de Family & Friends está noche quiero compartir con ustedes que ayer fue un día muy bonito para nuestra y es que era el cumpleaños de uno de mis sobrinos pero también recibimos a mi hermano que ya tiene 6 años viviendo en Colombia y vino a pasar un mes con nosotros aquí en la isla. Siempre es maravilloso ver volver a las personas que amamos que por una u otra razón han tenido que emigrar.
Happy night friends from Family & Friends tonight I want to share with you that yesterday was a very nice day for us and it was the birthday of one of my nephews but we also received my brother who has already been living in Colombia for 6 years and came to spend a month with us here on the island. It is always wonderful to see the people we love come back who for one reason or another have had to emigrate.
En la mañana me levante a decorar esta torta, algo que ustedes pueden tener seguro es que en la mayoría de los compartir familiares yo siempre seré la encargada de llevar la torta. Algunas veces unas tortas muy elaboradas y otras bastante sencillas. Lo que si es que mi familia ama mis tortas y para mí siempre va a ser un total honor llevar la torta.
In the morning I got up to decorate this cake. One thing you can be sure of is that at most family gatherings I will always be the one in charge of bringing the cake. Sometimes the cakes are very elaborate and other times they are quite simple. What is certain is that my family loves my cakes and for me it will always be a total honor to bring the cake.
Al llegar a casa de mi hermana, felicité a mi sobrino que estaba cumpliendo 13 años y le dije que se colocará junto con la torta para tomarle una fotografía.
When I got to my sister's house, I congratulated my nephew who was turning 13 and told him to stand next to the cake so I could take a picture.
Para almorzar prepararon un delicioso arroz con pollo y una ensalada. En las reuniones familiares todos ya como que sabemos que debemos llevar y en esta ocasión mi cuñado fue el que preparó el almuerzo para todos.
For lunch they prepared a delicious chicken and rice and a salad. At family gatherings we all know what we should bring and on this occasion my brother-in-law was the one who prepared lunch for everyone.
Luego de comer salimos con mi hermano, que una de mis hermanas fue a buscar al aeropuerto y pues el quería comprar una caja de cervezas. El dice que cuando viene a la isla quiere disfrutar ya que en Colombia se la pasa trabajando.
After eating, my brother and I went out. One of my sisters went to pick us up at the airport and he wanted to buy a case of beer. He says that when he comes to the island he wants to enjoy himself because in Colombia he spends his time working.
Algo que me pareció muy lindo es que el literal casi no trajo ropa pues en su maleta trajo un pequeño regalo para cada uno de nosotros, a cada una de sus hermanas y somos 5 nos trajo un reloj, a mi mamá le trajo un almanaque, unos bocadillos colombianos y un café. También trajo unas tazas para sus tías y gorras y zapatos para sus sobrinos y saben no es el costo de lo que trajo sino el detalle de simplemente comprar algo y traernos. Eso me pareció realmente un gesto muy noble y estas tazas estaban realmente hermosas.
Something that I found very nice is that he literally didn't bring any clothes, because in his suitcase he brought a small gift for each of us. He brought a watch for each of his sisters, and there are 5 of us. He brought a calendar for my mother, some Colombian snacks, and a coffee. He also brought some cups for his aunts and caps and shoes for his nephews, and you know, it's not the cost of what he brought, but the detail of simply buying something and bringing it to us. That seemed like a really noble gesture to me, and these cups were really beautiful.
Y antes de cantar cumpleaños tomamos algunas fotos. Mi familia sabe que yo siempre voy a querer tomar muchas fotos y más el día de ayer pues estaba mi hermano y nos sentíamos muy feliz de tenerlo en casa de todos los hermanos es el único varón así que si lo extrañamos mucho, es un poco loco y siempre se burla de todos y tal vez por esto es que lo extrañamos bastante.
And before singing happy birthday we took some pictures. My family knows that I will always want to take lots of pictures and even more so yesterday because my brother was there and we were very happy to have him at home. Of all the siblings, he is the only boy so we miss him a lot. He is a little crazy and always makes fun of everyone and maybe that is why we miss him so much.
La mejor parte de cantar cumpleaños es comer torta y quesillo, les cuento que mi hermanos en todos los cumpleaños se quiere quedar con los quesillos y ayer no fue la excepción, lo escondió en el horno pero nos dimos cuenta. Yo soy la encargada de hacer la torta y mi cuñado el quesillo le queda realmente delicioso. El estar en familia es alegría, acordarnos de cosas que pasaron hace años, extrañar a los que ya no están y comer delicioso.
The best part of singing happy birthday is eating cake and cheese. I tell you that my brother wants to keep the cheese for himself every birthday and yesterday was no exception. He hid it in the oven but we realized. I am in charge of making the cake and my brother-in-law makes the cheese really delicious. Being with family is joy, remembering things that happened years ago, missing those who are no longer here and eating delicious food.
Luego de compartir fuimos a casa de otra de mis hermanas que no pudo ir, para que viera a mi hermano y el le entregará las cosas que le trajo. De verdad que sin lugar a dudas el mejor regalo de la vida son los hermanos.
After sharing, we went to the house of another of my sisters who couldn't go, so she could see my brother and he could give her the things he brought her. Truly, without a doubt, the best gift in life is siblings.

Así es amiga, con los hermanos no solo nos une un lazo de sangre, muchos son nuestros amigos, y cómplices, también tienen esos rasgos de ocurrencias que destacan entre todos, me alegro mucho porque tú y tu familia pudiera disfrutar de la visita de tu hermano y a la vez el cumpleaños de tu sobrino que está bien grande, y que Dios lo bendiga con muchos años más de salud. Todos los detalles siempre tienen más valor que costo, eso es lo que apreciamos, y a seguir disfrutando de esa maravillosa visita.
