Our Anniversary Celebration

Anniversaries are celebrated annually to commemorate the day you two have been together. Time flies so fast and it has been another year between me and my partner, another year we got to celebrate together.

My partner has planned this for so long, he wanted to prepare an anniversary dinner joined by some of our closest friends.

Since he worked in one of the largest restaurants here in the Philippines, cooking is just so easy for him so he prepared everything. He also paid for everything so he does everything from planning, budgeting, and buying everything that we will be needing for the anniversary dinner.

This is one thing I love most about him because if there are some occasions and gatherings, he does all of the preparations and all the cooking. I help him sometimes but most of the time, he does everything on his own because he is in charge of all the steps and does not want any distractions.

He also prepared some decorations in our dining table. It says “Happy Anniv” as a shortcut for Happy Anniversary.

My man is really someone who loves to celebrate occasions and his way of doing things is by cooking, I guess part of cooking is what he does best, cooking is also his love language since he always makes sure to provide good food for us everyday and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.

My man is a “man of few words”, he talks a little but does so much. I have heard him plan about this for so long but I did not expect this plan will be made to life. I myself am not such a fan of doing celebrations like these because I get so lazy when it comes to me preparing all the food and doing all the preparations, luckily, my partner loves doing this.

I could not be grateful enough for him for all that he does for us everyday, he works so hard night and day to provide us the most comfortable life possible, he always makes sure we get the best we could possible get in all things and he always takes good care of us and prepares good food and delicious meals everyday.

He bought our anniversary cake from one of the famous cake-sellers here in the Philippines, he knows I love to eat cake so much and this is a double celebration cake because we did not have any during Mother’s day since we only ate out at a pizza parlor.

Here are the foods he cooked.

HUMBA

Humba or braised pork is a combination of pork meat, soy sauce and some ingredients for added aroma.

BUTTER GARLIC SHRIMPS

This is one of my most favorite dish present during that night. The shrimp was cooked using butter instead of oil and it tasted so good.

LUMPIA

Lumpia is a combination of ground meat and vegetables wrapped in lumpia wrapper. This is a Filipino favorite present in almost all occasions.

PANCIT

Pancit is always believed to provide long life that is why we always have it during birthdays and other special occasions, as for us celebrating our anniversary, may it give us longer years to celebrate our love and life.

We then took photos before we had dinner.

We are so happy that Jacob got to celebrate with us since he is now in the city for a short vacation. He is residing in the province meanwhile we are living in the city which is four hours apart.

We also invited some close friends over.

Since we are living far from our families, they became of second families here in the city and they are my partner’s colleagues and their partners. We have been friends for quite some time already.

For a long-lasting and smooth-sailing relationship, here are 5 tips I can give you.

(1) First of all, always RESPECT and LOVE your partner. When I say respect and love your partner, it all comes with never keeping secrets, being open about everything, and respecting your partners likes and dislikes. For me, respect is the highest form of love. If you respect the person, you love the person very much because by respecting the person means you will not do anything that will hurt him or her or give her things that will make him/her question his/her worth.

(2) Be a team. The moment you decide to be together, it will always be the both of you versus the problem. You must work together as a team and help each other out in the best possible way ever. Having a partner is having the best team who is the one who will always have your back.

(3) Support him/her in all that she does. We are all trying our best in all that we do, and a little pat in the back won’t hurt. Humans as we are, we really would appreciate if we are being cheered and supported and it would be made extra special if it will be done by our partners.

(4) Communicate and comprehend. Listening is just merely listening, it is important that you comprehend and listen to your partner to whatever needs he has or whatever he is going through, life is already cruel enough, so if you are a good partner, you must be the number one listener, listen without judgements, and help provide the best decisions that will be beneficial for one's self-growth and empowerment.

(5) Always consider your partner your best friend and never get tired of going on adventures together. No matter how many years you have been with your partner already, never forget the things you used to love doing, or never forget to explore more things and adventures together, it is one way to spice up your relationship, always spend time together. You can have a lot of friends but your partner must always be your best friend, your confidant, the one you tell everything to, the one you listen to without any judgments.

Getting into a relationship is as easy as abc but maintaining it and keeping it alive is a different story. We must always never forget to maintain the love and respect for each other. It is what keeps the fire burning.
