Hello, my lovely Hivers! For today’s blog, I want to share what happened at our Christmas party at the church. Since we were performing at the end of the mass in misa de gallo we called “Santa” group.
The event happened in the side of the place in a big space beside the church, which is often used for events like this.
Before the Event
Before the event started, we gave our gifts to get ready for the exchange gift activity later. There was also a raffle for prizes like chiffon cakes, rice, and electric fans.
At first, we didn’t sign the attendance sheet, but thankfully, our Santa leader told the organizers, and they let us sign in so we wrote our name one by one. And the best part all of us, including our leader, got a 5-kilo sack of rice and one member got electric fan.
Venue Design and Games
The venue was decorated with a “Pasko sa Parokya” (Christmas at the Parish). It was simple but pretty. After the MC introduced the performers, the games began.
- First Game: Passing Flour Using a Card
The goal was to pass flour using a card held in your mouth. We didn't join the games because our faces would get dirty. It was funny seeing everyone’s faces covered in flour. Our group didn’t manage to pass any flour at the end , and the “Kiaymates” group won.
- Second Game: Balloon Passing
In this game, we had to pass a balloon between our knees, with our hands on our heads. If we touch the balloon we get disqualified . We won this game.
- Third Game: Balloon and Plastic Cup Relay
In this game, we had to transfer a plastic cup using a balloon. The “Kiaymates” group won again.
After the games, it was time to eat. Each group received a platter (bilao) of food from the church, which included chicken, lumpia, and lechon (roast pig).
Performances
Once everyone had eaten and had an Energy, the performances began. This was a contest, and the judges reminded us that acting or drama wouldn’t count toward the final score.
Our preparation was a bit stressful. We started practicing only two days before the event. On the day of the event, one of our members backed out, which made things chaotic. During our last practice, there were some scoldings and tears, but we pushed through.
- First Group: Youth
They performed a drama about a girl who didn’t listen to her mother and left home. It happend on Christmas, her mother had an accident but then she survived. The lesson was about always listening to our parents and valuing family, and love especially during Christmas.
- Second Group: Catechists
Their performance was really good.
- Third Group: Evangelizers
They performed a drama about Mama Mary and Joseph before the birth of Jesus. It was funny, and the audience laughed a lot. There was one scene where the baby Jesus walked right after being born.
Between performances, raffle prizes were given out, starting with 30 chiffon cakes.
When it was our turn to perform, we gave it our best, even though we didn’t have much time to prepare. We smiled at the judges even though we had any mistakes.
- Last Group: Sacristans
This group had a big performance with dancing, singing, and caroling. It was fun and entertaining.
Raffles and Prizes
After all the performances, the remaining raffle prizes were given out. Everyone got ₱100 consolation prize.
Announcing the Winners
We didn’t expect to win because the other performances were so good. When the judges called the third-place winner, they looked at us, and we thought we’d won third.
But when they called another group, we got nervous. To our surprise, we won first place! We were so happy, jumping around. All the stress and tears were worth it.
After the Event
After the event, we took selfies, made TikTok videos, and changed into comfortable clothes at the venue. Even though we were dressed nicely, we ended up carrying sacks of rice and other prizes home.
Looks like a fun party, even adults enjoy it and not just the kids. Ito talaga ang exciting during Christmas Party no ✨
