Nothing is better than going home to my family, eating good food and relaxing most especially in the province.
Since I started adulting, most of the time I am in the city for work. During my free time and rest day, I always make sure that I get the chance to visit my family in our province in Argao, Philippines. Travel time is approximately 3 hours from the city.
Family time is non-negotiable for me. When there's a special occasion or even just an ordinary day at home, I really find time to spend it with them.
This time, I am in the province for the simple Birthday celebration of all the September celebrants in the family which includes my mother, my cousin and my nephew.
We prepared some barbeque, grilled fish and other viand. Cooking is definitely the bonding that I love the most whenever I am with my family.
We had a "boodle fight" kind of dinner for the whole family. The banana leaves serves as our plate. We put all the viands, rice and cake on top of it. We all washed our hands and we ate with bare hands. We call this "kinamot or kamayan." in our language. This describes the act of eating bare hands which is a traditional pre-colonial method of eating in Filipino culture.
We also sang a Birthday song for the three celebrants in the family and we took pictures together. Everyone was just so happy and we enjoyed our dinner together. I am truly blessed to have this happy and simple family. They truly added color into my life.
The following day, we decided to have a morning dip at the cold spring near our humble home. This is just like 5 minutes walk away from our house.
Liki Spring is located in Brgy. Taloot, Argao, Cebu. This place has no entrance fee both for locals and tourists so everyone could enjoy this as much as they want.
There are also food stalls around the area and some cottages for rent at a very affordable price.
We played some games while having a great time in this cold spring with my family. That morning was just filled with laughter. This is something I would cherish for a lifetime.
After having a great time at the cold spring, we went home to change our clothes and went to church to light a candle and gave thanks to the Lord.
This is San Miguel Arcangel church in Argao, Philippines. We lighted a candle here and mentioned our silent prayers. After which, we took a family photo outside the church. I am just so grateful that everyone in the family is in good health. Just to see my family happy and healthy is already a big thing for me. It was a happy Birthday indeed for our September celebrants.
After our quality time at the church, we went to Jollibee for some good food. My heart is just so happy for this small win. When we were still kids, we couldn't afford to buy food in this kind of food chain.
With perseverance, hard work and faith to God, we are slowly reaping the fruits of our labor. Indeed, God will make all things beautiful in His time. We just have to be patient, work for it and trust His timing.
After here we went home and had some time to relax. This is another moment deposited to my memory bank. I am so grateful for the little things in life. Cheers to simple yet memorable moments with my family.
