As Typhoon Kristine made landfall we the people of Barangay Mayondon, Los Baños needed to braced ourselves for this challenge of nature. The storm brought intense winds, relentless rain and sleepless nights which caused severe damage to homes public spaces, and vehicles well for some it was trauma I even read and heard about worse experiences. Uprooted trees blocked roads and crushed rooftops and some cars leaving many residents in distress. Despite all of these the bayanihan spirit of filipinos was shown as you can see from the photos. Photos are from the facebook post of our brgy. captain
One of the difficulties we faced was the loss of electricity, which lasted for almost a week it was really stressful for me because my job rely heavily on internet since i work remotely(work from home setup) which now i realize one of the cons of trying to shift from this type of job. It was really hard and also it pains to see how hard it was for my three young nephews one of them is even just 2 weeks old. It also affected our access to clean water for baths i even skipped couple of days and on days that i took i can only afford to use one-fourth of pale of water.
It was hard to travel and still even today across towns since there are still flooded roads and places at our town. Typhoon Kristine was a reminder of the unpredictability of life and to always help those in needs not just materially you know not only food to eat, clothes to wear or place to stay but mentally for those who developed trauma during this calamity.
I'm also saddened by this incident, and I hope everyone is safe and healthy, keep spirit Juls.
