Salo salo means joining each other while eating; it could be with your friends, family, or colleagues. It is nice to witness this kind of bond with each other. It's not just a meal. It's a bond with each other that you would truly miss.
Basically, salo is about sitting down together to share the presence of one another through food. Sharing memories with each other. It's nice to witness such different stories with other people. It can also give lessons to each and every one of us that you can bring while you are growing. Sometimes, it's important to know the stories of others; spending time with them is such a memorable experience you will treasure as you grow older.
Salo food is generally a mixture of Filipino dishes lumpia, adobo, lechon, pancit, or even a rare dessert like leche flan or halo-halo. It is more than the variety of dishes the effort spent in preparing the food is what makes it precious. Either the joy of cooking together or bringing something meaningful to that special appetite. Sometimes, the common foods bear the deepest meaning, but here we go throwing chicken feet and the most common dish. There is an occasion.
A salo is not complete without the laughter and stories shared with friends. It is the time when everyone lets their defenses down and gives life updates on their lives sometimes touching and at other times funny. From funny to serious heart-to-heart conversations, there’s always a mix of emotions around the table. Sometimes we need to know their stories so that we can gain knowledge from their experiences. Those are moments shared and, in turn, strengthen the bonds of friendship.
Salo-salo is the frequent gathering of Filipinos, whether it is in the form of a casual hang out, birthday celebration, or any of the many festive occasions like Christmas or the fiestas. However, with or without a holiday, it's a good enough reason to get together with friends. It's the moment to join with one another.
Sharing food with friends is something very valuable, and not just for the mere fun of eating together. It's a reminder that life is more abundant and that sharing becomes important for that abundance to inspire. Salo Salo is also about thanksgiving not just for the food found on the table but also for the people found around.
This is a tradition that teaches us to treasure time and to learn to appreciate the little things around us. It teaches us to rejoice over the people who nourish us and our relationships. It makes our bond with each other stronger.
It does not matter whether it is a small gathering over a plate of food or a big celebration It is the bonding time spent over food, laughter, and love that really makes a salo. So, when you gather at a table with friends, remember that it is not so much the food but so much more the delight in sharing a moment together
