It's me again, Junvir M. Gomez. For today's blog, I will tell you my story about seminary.
My Journey Begins:
These are my classmates in the Seminary, totaling 12 in our classroom. Before officially starting at the Seminary high school, we undergo a year of training to help us determine if this is the path we truly want to pursue. We are a unique and special class.
Navigating through our days can be quite challenging as we all have different personalities that allow us to learn more about ourselves. During this time, I held the position of President and House Senior of the Class of Pedro. My responsibility was to unite our classroom as one cohesive unit. However, this proved to be difficult due to the diverse personalities stemming from our varying family backgrounds and cultures.
Balancing my studies with my duties as class President was a challenging task. I learned valuable lessons in leadership during this time, such as the importance of patience and understanding.
Overall number in our community:
All in all, we are 64 in our community. Everyday we have the same task: rising in the morning, eating, cleaning, studying, and having classes, and of course praying is the most important in our daily lives. We are the prayer warriors in our family, friends, and even the safety in our world. We are very open to everyone. In the seminary, everyone is your friend. I am grateful to have them. As the years went by, I learned a lot in my seminary days from my way of studying, minimizing the use of gadgets, and even going outside. We are allowed to use our phone only twice a month and go outside twice a month also. And with that, I learned to discipline myself in terms of health. I was very healthy when I was there because even our food was limited and very nutritious. And during Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. we have sports. It is mandatory to play different kinds of sports; it can be indoor games or outdoor games.
During our Class Outing:
Every Semester we have semestral break. We have outings in different places to have bonds with each other since we are the ones who will go with this journey. Form the first-year class up until the 4th year. And this will help us to build strong bonds with each other and to really understand each other, but still we have tasks to do and to achieve, even though we are outside of the seminary. Still we are in the formation. Every time we have an outing, I am tasked with planning for it together with my classmates as well as deciding where we should go during these days. It's very pressure since I will be the one to tackle it with the community where we will go and how much will be the cost of our outing and our activities during that day. Every one of us decided to go to Mist Mountain Resort, located at Taptap, Cebu City. We have fun, and one of our activities is the Alpha Session, wherein we are tasked with sharing our insights and personal challenges in life that could bring us another lesson in our lives. It's also a way for us to know that everyone of us has different stories and could make adjustments. It's really fun to have them as my classmates. I really miss them since I'm now currently studying at Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges, but I was thankful to God since everything happens for a reason.
Singing Engagement:
Singing with the church choir is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. We are requested from time to time by various churches, and our choir has somehow managed to be known for being talented and dependable, hence the many invitations during important occasions. I am also privileged to serve in a special choir where I get to play tenor—a voice that is beautifully phenomenal, albeit a bit demanding. Although singing as a tenor may seem easy, it has its complexities; however, the passion within me makes it less of a challenge and more exciting.
Every performance draws us even closer as a group, making every second spent unique and cherished. I take pride in being among the co-singers who have filled my heart and life with a lot of purpose and happiness. They have made the odyssey worthwhile by including music, companions, and a cause in the adventure. Activities of the concert choir etch in my mind the thrill of mingling with people and working towards a common goal of providing a service pertinent to the community to entertain them with soulful voices.
During our Theater Play Entitled The Mouse Trap:
Building the theater play based on The Mousetrap was a wonderful adventure. The source material, a rather lengthy tale with many facets, was an interesting dilemma. We took this indecisive drama and turned it inside out in the story and the manner of performance. It was a pleasure doing it, as it allowed us to explore the opportunities within the framework of the play.
Plotting my focus instead on the core, most thrilling moments, I managed to keep the audience interested while adding some fresh elements to the characters and the scenes at the same time. From the design of the set to the dynamics between the characters, everything required on-the-spot decision-making and teamwork.
The process of rehearsals was full of fun and lots of energy. Each actor had to grasp the political and emotional motivations at stake for the characters, which was very important for a whodunit like The Mousetrap. We also learned the art of building tension and narration even with a restricted plot.
The day of the performance arrived, and adrenaline surged through our veins since the audience was so vibrant and active, especially when there were some dramatic turns and tense moments. It was pleasing to witness their responses, and that is exactly why we fell in love with this art form. This was not only a play; it was a crucible. It was a play that was both lasting for everyone involved.
During our Graduation Day:
On the day of our culmination since every year in the class there will be atleast 5 or 4 person that will be awarded. Many memories came to mind but the one that stood out the most was the journey that brought me to that day. I had treading a path that was rife with challenges, a great deal of sleepless nights in the name of studying, and endless efforts devoted to the achievement of the academic objectives set. But nothing prepared me for the very pleasant shock when my name was called out and I was publicly declared student with the honors of Cum Laude.
For a moment there, the entire thing blew me away and I was lost for words. But it was just a matter of time that a wave of pride and gratitude came over me. All those efforts, that reproach I felt whenever I wavered and drew back in the face of adversity, were so finally, this award turned out to be within my reach. I held the resolve and the willpower, which did not only pay off but also gained an honour that very few people are able to attain.
Even as I stepped on the stage, I appreciated the honor bestowed upon me and the journey that preceded it, for there was no greater feeling. It was a day that would bear witness to me standing the test of time and the confidence I have in myself, that on the extremely worst days, there is still a higher calling for me standing.

I have a workmate before who just graduated from seminary.
As per him, they are given an allotted time to live again like the used too. This is for them to determine if they wanted to pursue or not .
As for my workmate, he take different path .
Yes, because seminary is not just a place to pursue your dreams as a priest but a place of discernment. A place where you are forming yourself to be a better onem
