Welcoming 2025 is full of love and positivity. We shared laughter and a good relationship with my family.
We kept saying, "New Year, new me," but I don't believe that. Instead, we should improve ourselves and develop ourselves to be more mature. It's like nurturing our past selves to be who we are and leaving all the bad energy we have kept to ourselves. Because we can't fully change who we are though, our habits, some attitudes, our wants and needs, etc. every year, it's a tiring cycle. If you understand what I mean. Haha.
Let me share with you how we prepare and celebrate the New Year.
Preparations
On December 31, we cleaned our house and I also cleaned my room. We weren't able to clean it beforehand because we had so many plans and trips. It's just me and my mother who do all the cleaning and stuff. It was very tiring though because our house is two stories high. My mother at that time was so tired and stressed and frustrated because my father and brother kept going out and didn't help us clean. She was so sensitive that day. In the evening, we cooked our food and made desserts. Prepare all the so-called "palihi" or prosperity bowls and according the tradition we always encounter the 12 fruits or circles of fruits. We always put a coin in each corner of our house. To the doors, stairs, and even at the windows so that money is flowing nonstop and it goes in and out. We won't run out of money. It's a belief though. Haha. We also put some fruits in every room and on our terrace.
When the clock hit midnight, we greeted each other with a Happy New Year with all smiles and good vibes. We were making noise and smiling ear to ear because they said making noise could go away the evil spirits and bad energy surrounding us. My brother on the other hand lights up the 3 fountain fireworks and after that, we also light up bingala or sparklers ( it is also a type of fireworks), and rocket fireworks. I forgot the name of the other one. We also make noise with our motorcycles by pressing the horn.
After all of that noise, we go back inside our house and start eating the food. After some chitchatting, I was video calling my friends and my boyfriend, greeting each other with a Happy New Year.
The next day, I woke up late in the morning. When I go down they are already chitchatting about what goals they achieved last 2024 and what are some goals we want to achieve as a family this 2025 while eating. As we go deeper into the topic, we somewhat insert the 60th birthday of my mother happening this August. She wants a big party but I and my siblings may have other plans. My sister was planning that we should go to Hong Kong instead of having a party. I somewhat agreed because that’s also on my bucket list to travel, but the problem is where we should get a budget. Haha.
In the afternoon, me and my sister were doing a TikTok trend and we also took some pictures to have some memories. It's very unlikely for my sister to do TikTok though, for the reason that she doesn't like dancing and doing something that makes her feel embarrassed. She had no choice because she didn't want to say no and be bad mood as the year started.
