Hello, family and friends. On this special Hearts Day, I find myself reflecting on the countless joyful memories I've shared with my beloved family, friends, and colleagues. Each moment, whether during celebrations or challenging times, has contributed to the strong bonds we’ve built together. Today, I’m excited to share a collection of pictures that capture these cherished memories.
I come from a broken family and have three stepsisters. A few years ago, we lost our parents, and since then, we've been navigating life on our own. This experience has taught us the meaning of resilience as we strive to support one another in times of sorrow. Although we all feel the weight of our loss, we actively try to create new memories. Unfortunately, our busy lives often make it difficult to find time to spend together and enjoy each other’s company. Last Sunday, we finally made it a priority to gather for a small reunion, which turned out to be a heartwarming experience. Our day began with responsibilities: my task was to head to the market to buy fresh fish. I made a special effort to select the best quality for our meal. My two sisters had their own responsibilities, including preparing side dishes and other essentials for our feast.
During our preparation, I didn’t capture any pictures of us at the dining table, as we were all deeply engaged in both the cooking and the lively conversations, which made the occasion more enjoyable. The fish I bought was made into "Fish Kinilaw" with cucumber to make it more tasty. That is their favorite dish. We have the lechon pork, but I intentionally chose not to include it here.
After our meal, I had to change my hive t-shirt to my collared yellow shirt because I was still doing my job as an ESL teacher for one hour and after my classes, we planned a visit to our parents' and brother's gravesite. We need to buy some flowers to offer to our dearly beloved. And I saw a cat hiding in the middle of the plants and I could not resist taking a picture of it. We took the opportunity to share our feelings and thoughts in a small prayer while we were in the cemetery. As the rain suddenly began to fall, we hurried to snap a picture of ourselves. Despite the urgency, we were filled with joy and laughter, grateful for the time spent together, even if we knew it might be a while before we could do it again. Sadly, two of my stepsisters were unable to join us this time as they are currently working abroad. We all miss them dearly.
I apologize for the appearance of my feet; I haven't had time to get a pedicure for my nails. Please don't judge my feet.
As for me, I'm quite the introvert and don't have a wide circle of friends. My closest connections are with my coworkers and my boardmates before. We have developed a strong friendship over time, talking about everything imaginable without a hint of hesitation. However, as life progresses, we find ourselves parting ways, which makes me miss the late-night work sessions and the camaraderie we shared. Even though distance separates us, we make it a point to stay connected through Messenger. Whenever they have a moment to spare, they call me, and we chat about our lives, what's going on, and everything in between. These conversations help bridge the gap, but I still look forward to the day when we can all be together again, sharing stories and laughter in person.
