Hive Opened the Door to New Places and a Wedding Invitation

One of the most incredible things about the Hive is that you can make new friends! We all know this, but this is another layer of Hive that I find so intriguing: making friends indirectly because of Hive.

Anyway, today, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of @menulisid's founder in the capital of East Java. If it weren't for the project my friend and I started a few months ago, I never would have met her, had the chance to chat, or even received an invitation to her wedding. I also went with @silvercrown1 because he's also part of @menulisid and was the one who connected us.

My train leaves at 4:49, almost early in the morning. I didn't know how I could wake up, but I did. I got excited that I would be able to visit Surabaya after many years. Still, I also thought of traveling by commuter train. This type of train is one of the most affordable ways to travel. You can board it for just under $1, which will take you to the capital of East Java, home to the region's skyscrapers.

This is the second largest city in Indonesia and is a busy economic hub in the region. Locals also call this the home of the "Crazy Rich Asians," where they live throughout the area and are notorious for their "crazy" spending habits.

The wedding was pretty intimate. Only family, friends, and acquaintances were with some of her work colleagues. It was unlike most weddings in the region, which are often so lavish and invite dozens of people. However, at that wedding, everything was great. The catering, the MC, and even the event were organized really well, so I had a great time there. Because it was more intimate, that event felt more private and meaningful.

The event was held at around 11 AM, only three hours. Before the event, I also saw some skyscrapers around the city. The vibe really reminds me of Bangkok, even more so when I read the Kbank banner, known as Kasikornbank. It's the bank I used to go to in Thailand.

The only thing that sets it apart is the cleanliness because in this area, around the sidewalk, there are no people selling stuff. It's kept primarily clean, and some parts are heavily guarded. It was an enjoyable morning walk that left me wondering if I needed to explore other parts of this town again. During this visit, I learned about different city areas. After all, I will be back in January to do the Offline hive meeting with @menulisid, too. So, I suppose this was a good opportunity to learn about the place and map the area.

Anyway, Have a great weekend!

This is the first time I'm hearing about @menulisid. I checked out their blog...free writing courses in Indonesia for people who want to blog on Hive! What a great idea. I curate for the Inkwell and this is exactly what is needed. People who want to blog often have raw skills and a bit of polishing would go a long way to help them succeed.

Of course, the wedding was beautiful! The bride was beautiful. The city is beautiful.

You certainly are adventurous and get around really well.

I'd love to get back to you as I could but I was so darn exhausted yesterday. Anywho, we're going to do some type of Hive Onboarding in two weeks with mostly an audience who are writers, bloggers, and independent journalist and even professsional. We're also organizing a writing contest as well😊I'll have to share about it later.

To be honest with you, I am not adventurous 🤣 but I keep finding myself in interesting places

Yes you're right. Hive opens door to great opportunity for exploration, live visiting a new country and making friends of a different race. Congratulations to the beautiful couple.

That's what we often overlooked from this space 😊

You're right

Hive is a great place for creative people like you. There are always many avenues to connect with like-minded users. I didn't know there was such a writing project in Indonesia. Congratulations on that and on the founder's wedding!

😊 Indeed! I made a lot of long life friends in this space that I have met IRL and also soon to met. Thank you for checking this out and love to see you around!

👍😁

How cool to make friends at Hive and than meet up at a wedding. That is indeed the power of Hive! It shows great connections can be had here 😃

Right? It's interesting that Hive can connect us in that way 😁 Here's to more invitation to Hivers wedding hehe

Wow It's really wonderful to be able make some friends through Hive and then share part of your life with them, congratulations, beautiful story

That's what Hive is for too, you can really meet people from here that are nice. I was happy to be invited to their wedding😊

I like how the wedding was arranged strictly on invite only. With the way you sounds it feels beautiful. Congratulations to her and a happy home

It was a beautiful wedding :) and definitely nicer when it's invite only or just small gathering

That is the kind I love attending . Personal ceremony

That’s awesome I’m glad to hear that you connected and made friends so much so that you got invited to the wedding!

Weddings that are smaller and more intimate are far better than ones that are big and annoying lol. Hope you had a great time!

hehehe that's something that always is extra nice to have, another new friendship. I had a great time there, the catering and everything was great. Thankfully, I made to wake up super early 🤣

Congratulations to that lovely couple😍

I will pass it on to the couple😊

@macchiata, I paid out 1.023 HIVE and 0.333 HBD to reward 8 comments in this discussion thread.

You are definitely correct, @macchiata that is why I admired the platform so much. I appreciated everything on Hive. It inspired me to write, and it also enhanced my communication skills.😊
