Hey Hivers, and welcome back to my blog! Whether you're a seasoned reader or a curious newcomer, I'm thrilled to have you here. For those of you who haven't met me yet, I'm @patrixx21, and this is where I share my thoughts, experiences and adventures.
Remember that time we were at Marlyn's house? We planned to visit Sir Mandal's house because we'd never been there before, and he readily agreed. We were so excited while planning, as it was our first time going to our advisor's home.
Since it was also the day before our final exams, we decided to combine a group study session at Sir Mandal's with a simple yet memorable birthday celebration for one of our friends.
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to Sir Mandal for being such a wonderful teacher for the past two years. We've learned so much from him and will be forever grateful for that. Sir Mandal really do have a special place in our heart and he is just too good for words. All I can say is that he tried everything in his power to guide us, correct us, encourage us, take care of us, protect us and shower us so much love.
We apologize if we occasionally give him headaches as a result of our stubbornness and lack of listening skills. Sir Mandal is the type of person who never expresses his emotions; all he wants is to be left alone and return to his normal state of being the next day. I feel much more confident and excited for what future holds for each of us. He truly made a positive impact on my education and everyday living just by being himself.
So, it was the day we were going to Sir Mandal's house. We agreed to meet at Colon Alley because only Edreyan, our guy friend, knew the way. Since Chuss Lee's house was close to Sir Mandal's place, she decided to wait at her alley and just catch the multicab we were riding in.
We got out right away because we still have to walk to reach Sir Mandal's residence. While walking, we had a little "chika" with each other, and surprisingly, we got there fast. Sir Mandal told us he had just finished his laundry and was going to take a bath when we arrived, so he wasn't ready yet. We are delighted to see that he smiled as he greeted us. We said he would take a quick bath first while we sat on his adorable little sofa.
Thus, we welcome ourselves and take a seat, feeling at home. Later on, while Edreyan and Justine are studying and completing our primary task for our examination, Marlyn and Chuss begin acting out by watching the K-pop episode Going Seventeen. In the meantime, I watch All Star Game 2024 on Sir Mandal's laptop. (☺️)
Sir Mandal had also finished and prepared. He asked us if what we want to eat but we refuse and we told him we weren't hungry because we had eaten before leaving. We just chit-chat until lunchtime came, our stomachs were already growling.
All of us are too idle to go buy some food, but happily Luis showed up. We awaited his arrival since he and Justine were going to purchase food for us. Since they will be using Sir Mandal's motorcycle, there won't be much of a work.
We discussed our lunch options, and Sir Mandal recommended "Lechon Manok" since it's ready to eat and doesn't require cooking because he doesn't have a stove. (😂) We each gave in fifty pesos. Given that it is also Hanz's birthday, Sir Mandal made the decision to purchase a cake for him. He also made the decision to pay for the cake in order to hold a small party for our friend's birthday, which will take place later. He listed it all in a small paper and their ready to go.
When Sir Mandal realizes that we are out of rice, he instructs Edreyan and Marlyn to buy some along with some gas. Since Sir Mandal doesn't actually cook at home, he borrows a butane stove from his neighbor. When Edreyan and Marlyn got there, Chuss offered to make the rice. There were a lot of us, so Chuss made a lot of rice.
While Chuss was cooking the rice, Sir Mandal suddenly said that he would go and pick up Memay at the alley because she didn’t know the directions, safely they arrived. We basically waited for Luis and Justine to show up when Chuss Lee finished.
We started preparing the food, rice, and drinks as soon as they arrived so that we could begin eating. Once everything is ready, we pray, snap some photos, and begin eating. We have completed everything, and we are all already satisfied. After, we tidy the tables and dishes. Afterwards, we relax and chill. Afterwards we all agree to watch the movie "REWIND" since Sir Mandal proposed it because he hasn't watched it yet, even though most of us have previously seen it. It's always acceptable for Sir Mandal.
As we were focused on the film, Hanz abruptly sent Sir Mandal a message to let him know he was on his way. He's too lazy to walk, so Luis caught him at the alley. To surprise him, we put the movie on stop right away, unboxed the cake, and lit the candle. Chuss waited for them while hiding at the CR, as Sir Mandal had mentioned.
We all wished him a happy birthday when he came with joy. Chuss got out with the cake when Sir Mandal knocked on the door. When Hanz saw the cake, he was taken aback. We all sang him a happy birthday. He cheerfully extinguished the candle.
We head to the cake and keep watching the movie. We all took a mouthful once he sliced it, and it is really good. Since Sir Mandal only loves to eat coffee-flavored cake, that is the flavor that they purchased. As we eat the cake, we are all very content. Both the cake and the movie were consumed to the end.
We tidy Sir Mandal's place before leaving after all of that. Since Sir Mandal was going to accompany us on our jogging trip to Naga, he had another bath, and we all headed out to the alley.
I also gave him a gift, a pair of AirPods. He always asked me if I had them because he wanted to borrow them. I kept telling him I didn't have any because it was true. That's why I decided to buy him a pair for his birthday.
Here we were, in this familiar and transformed space, celebrating not just a milestone, but the wonderful people who filled our lives. As the night drew to a close, a sense of contentment settled in. The memory of that night, filled with laughter and connection that would stay with us for a long time to come.
