Hey Hivers, and welcome back to my blog! Whether you're a seasoned reader or a curious newcomer, I'm thrilled to have you here. For those of you who haven't met me yet, I'm @patrixx21, and this is where I share my thoughts, experiences and adventures.
Thankfully, I got accepted into Cebu Technological University (CTU) for college! I'm so happy and grateful for myself; finally, my effort has paid off. My long wait is over, and it's all worth it.
There are group chats for each department and course. Thanks to a friend, I'm already added to the chat. I back-read their messages and learned that some of them had already initially enrolled, which I wasn't aware of.
Apparently, these students received an email from their interviewer a week after the interview. The others, like me who didn't receive the email, supposedly had it land in the spam folder.
Some students took a screenshot of the email and sent it around. The email was sent by batch, so other email accounts were visible in the screenshot. That's how I found out I was one of the many recipients whose email went to spam.
Good thing my papers were ready and complete; the next day, my cousin, a former CTU student, and I went straight to the campus to submit my papers and sign a form at the College of Technology Department.
As I enter the campus I felt a rush of excitement. Everywhere I looked, the parents and students faces etched with a mix of pride and joy; accompanying, providing comfort and support in this unfamiliar environment. The air was filled with a collective hum of conversation, with students comparing schedules and everyone sharing the excitement of embarking on a new academic journey.
Beyond the administrative necessities, the day had a deeper meaning. It signaled the start of my transformational journey. CTU's vast campus, a maze of buildings and pathways, became a symbol of the limitless opportunities that awaited me.
Bulletin boards brimming with club announcements hinted at the exciting extracurricular activities I could pursue. Glimpses of classrooms packed with eager students fueled a desire for knowledge and intellectual growth.
As the day progressed, the initial anxiety vanished, leaving behind a profound sense of accomplishment and a flow of anticipation. The initial enrollment process may have been the first step, but it marked the beginning of my grand adventure.
I left the CTU campus that day not only as a freshman, but also as an eager learner, ready to face the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
Inspired by my cousin's suggestion that it was too early to leave, we decided to extend our visit on campus with a stroll. Since I was new to the city, this unplanned adventure became a chance to familiarize myself with Cebu's beating heart. The air buzzed with a symphony of sounds.
Jeepneys, the city's iconic brightly colored public transportation, roared past in a blur of motion. The air buzzed with the lively chatter of locals. We walked down narrow side streets, their walls showcasing the city's rich history. Street art splashed vibrant colors onto otherwise ordinary walls, each mural a unique voice whispering a story to passersby.
Our stroll was about more than just seeing the sights; it was also about taking in the atmosphere. Our walk led us to the stunning Basilica Minore del Santo Niño. We offered a quiet prayer, expressing gratitude for the day's journey and the warmth of family. As we stepped outside, we felt a sense of calm settle over us, a quiet contrast to the city's lively energy.
We roamed around, then stopped over at Plaza Independencia to take some photos. We planned to go to the Museum, but unfortunately, it's closed on Mondays. So, we just took a picture outside. Afterward, my mother asked me to send money to my cousin in the province through a Palawan shop.
Then, we went to the Citymall to get some takeout because we got hungry while strolling around. After that, we used the restroom to avoid any inconvenience on the bus. We took some mirror selfies afterward, and then we were ready to go.
The City left an impression on me, not through grand museum or historical monuments, but through the simple act of walking.
The daily activity and rush, the vibrant sights and sounds, and the friendly smiles of strangers were where I truly felt Cebu City's heartbeat. And I knew, deep down, that this would not be my last stroll through its captivating streets.
