It was an exciting experience at my friend's child's naming ceremony that was held yesterday in their church auditorium. It was their first child, and friends and family came from all around the state to rejoice with them as they welcomed their first child into the world. It was a baby girl, and in this post, I talked about my experience at the naming ceremony.
I had to leave work earlier than usual to make it to the ceremony, which began at 2 p.m., although I usually close around one. I don't think the clothes I'm putting on befit the occasion, and aside from that, I'm also helping the parents with some preparation and arrangements for the auditorium premises, which I did before the program kicked off.
And it all began with an opening prayer, praise and worship songs that we danced to, and a testimony from the wife, who testified about what she went through during the delivery of their daughter. Apparently, she gave birth around 9 p.m. on Saturday but had to be rushed back into the theater due to some complications and severe blood loss. Well, I'm glad she's ok, fine, and in perfect condition now.
I've been friends with both the father and the mother since about 13 years ago, when I was in university, because we happened to attend the same institution and also studied the same course, so you can see we've been together for a long time. Basically, after the testimony, there was a short sermon by the pastor, and after that, the child was named.
It was a funny moment when the father of the child was asked to read out all the names of their daughter, and he ended up listing 18 names. I was like, 18 for your first daughter's. What would you name the others when they started coming around? Well, it's pretty normal in this part of the world to give a first child many names, and many of them were due to the joy they felt.
After the naming, it was time to dance and give an offering, and that was the period the above video captured. Both were great dancers, along with our other friends who came to celebrate with the couples and dance as though there's no tomorrow.
After the entire program, food and drinks were given to everyone in a takeaway bag, which consisted of rice and beef. It had been a while since I tasted beef, so eating that was a heartwarming experience, and I had a lot of fun. Also, via the naming ceremony, some of my friends who I'd seen for a while came around, and we all got to get together and have fun till late at night before I returned home.
It been awhile I stepped out for any fun activities, because I'm an introvert, but this ceremony gave me the fun and feeling or a social life I've been missing for a while.
That's about all on my experience at my friend's child's name ceremony, I hope you enjoyed the read, do have a wonderful night rest.
