By now, you would agree with me that disfavor can be described as a curse, because God intended that we get to enjoy some favour in this world. Jesus asked the people to look at the flowers of the field and how beautiful they are without toiling.
He also asked us to look at the birds and how they are provided for without spinning. By so doing, He was trying to let us know that there are things that have been provided for us by God. It is the favour that came with our making or creation. Adam experienced that kind of favour in the beginning. Everything was made available for him to enjoy as long as he obeyed the instructions regarding the garden.
Therefore, every disfavor is traceable to one thing and another. God’s favour to you in this season will be for you to know where any form of disfavor may be coming from; as a causes curse cannot come. Here are a few of them.
- Rebellion and pride can cause you to be rejected where you should have been favoured. 1 Samuel 15:23; 1 Samuel 16:1
Eliab, the first son of Jesse was refused because he could not take responsibility as the oldest son of the family. 1 Samuel 16:6. - Cain was rejected because he did not give his best. He could have done better, but he chose to do less. Genesis 4:1-5. Abel gave the first, which is interpreted as the best. The Hebrew Meaning for first fruit is “the best”.
- A servant is not above his master. If God has blessed you with more knowledge and insight than your boss and you make it obvious to all that you know better; you will lose favour. Matthew 10:24.
- When you fail to take care of your aged parents in terms of attention and finances, life will become unfavourable to you. Ephesians 6:2-3.
- Bitterness will rob you of favour. Hebrews 12:15.
Maltreatment of spouse, both in words and deeds will expose you to disfavor in life. According to Genesis 2:18 and Proverbs 18:22, your wife is God’s help to you. She is your favour connection. Michal also could not enjoy the favour of the fruit of the womb because of the way she talked to her husband.
May God’s favour find reasons to always rest on you in Jesus Name.
