Jehoshaphat king of Judah had a confrontation with an alliance of three nations that came up against Judah in battle. It was very obvious that Jehoshaphat didn’t know what to do; he was not hypocritical about it at all. He went into the house of the Lord and told the Lord that he didn’t know what to do concerning the confrontation. The Lord however assured him of help; and after consulting with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, to praise the Lord in the beauty of His holiness. These singers went out before the army of Judah singing – “Praise ye the LORD; for His mercy endureth forever”. When he didn’t know what to do, he chose to praise the Lord. Praise unto God is what to do when you don’t know what to do. It is not a matter of whether you feel like praising God or not; it is what you ought to. It is what brings the answer from God.
When the singers who went before the army of Judah to praise the Lord; the Lord set ambush against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. God promised to help them; but, nothing happened until they began to sing and to praise God in the beauty of His holiness. It was praise that activated the help that was divinely earmarked for them. Praise is a turnaround weapon in the hands of a believer; which no man can withstand, resist and gainsay.
Praising God when you don’t know what to do is passing the bulk to the Lord; because of what you know so well; that He knows what to do. God inhabits the praises of His people. When you begin to praise God in the heat of any situation; the Lord comes in and when He steps in, the enemy becomes irrelevant. Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah chose to turn God on by their praise, when they didn’t know what to do and God provoked a turnaround breakthrough in their favor. Praise is a spiritual provoker of divine manifestations. When you don’t know what to do; don’t complain and don’t be disillusioned, praise the Lord anyhow and praise your way to triumph.
