For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son . . .
—Romans 5:10
The word "reconciliation" simply means "to create a changed relationship," and that means bringing two parties together that should have long been together. The Bible talks to humanity as God's enemies. You may say that you are not God's "enemy," but we are either passive or active enemies of God, except Christ, according to the Scripture. Reconciliation means "returning into complete partnership and communion with Heaven," as Christ did on the cross. What an exciting idea!
