It is in man to hunt for easy routes, but God is not man. With God; it doesn’t have to be easy. God can turn around any situation, no matter how complex the situation is. God can restore the desolation of many generations. He is God and with Him all things are possible. It doesn’t have to be easy to appeal to God; as far as God is concerned, the more impossible it looks, the better it is to handle.
When the Lord took the Israelites out of the land of Egypt; He took the through the way of the Red sea. The way of the Red sea was by no means an easy route; the way of the land of the Philistines was a much more easier route and it was even nearer, but God opted for the way of the wilderness of the Red sea; because He did not want them to see war.
The ease on any particular path is never a motivating factor for God, in choosing the path He assigns for us. God is only motivated by what He knows He is capable of doing.

God is able to do all things: He is able to make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. While man would rather prefer an already carved path, God insists on having it without any defined path, because He is able to make a way where there is no way.
While Abraham in our scripture text sought to lean on the short cut they found in the birth of Ishmael, which was already a clear cut path to rest on the promise God gave them; God insisted on having it His own way, which humanly speaking was not going to be an easy way. Thank God; God is not human, God is God.
The Lord insisted that a woman who was already ninety years was going to have a child. If God has said it; no matter how impossible it is turning out to be, God will do it: for with Him, all things are possible. Away with how the situation looks, away with how the situation has turned out to be; lay hold on what God has spoken, for it shall be exactly as He has said.
