Salvation is a sure deal anchored on the finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. Your quest for salvation does not need any form of processing with God: in the words of the song writer, “The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives”.
It is in the light of this truth; that, one of the thieves, who was crucified along with Jesus, received an immediate pardon. “Remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom” was his cry and immediately, Jesus replied him – “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” Luke 23:43. This was a notorious criminal who truly believed, and that moment from Jesus, he secured a pardon from the Lord; because, the Scriptures cannot be broken. Apostle Paul told the jailer in Acts 16:31 – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved and thy house”.
Salvation though a done deal based on the finished work of Jesus; does not end with just believing. One saved now is really not saved forever. You just have to learn to keep at it. It’s in three dimensions; you have been saved, you are being saved and you shall be saved. It’s a done deal; but you have to learn to keep at it and Philippians 2:12 says for you to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”.
What you are doing now based on that which you have freely received from the Lord, determines the finality and totality of your situation. It is far beyond what you claim to have experienced. What you are doing based on what you have experienced, is what guarantees your experience of God’s saving grace upon your life.
Apostle Paul was very emphatic about this, when he said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 – “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway”. Being a castaway is very possible if you fail to put your flesh and its awful cravings under subjection.
The Bible says – “wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” 1 Corinthians 10:12. There is so much caution to exercise, so much discipline to maintain; because, only “He that endures to the end shall be saved” Matthew 24:22. You are saved and you shall be saved.
