Joshua 24:15 KJV
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
What individuals do in life, is a matter of choice, but as loving and caring parents, we owe our children and loved ones the duty to guide them in their daily lives, into the path of righteousness, truth and progress.
Our message for today says, 'choose you this day whom you will serve'.
Joshua, from our text above, gathered all the tribes of Israel, their elders, their heads, their Judges and Officers, to Shechem, and reminded them of how they lived under the bondage of the strange gods of the Amorites and in Egypt, which their fathers served on the other side of the flood. He reminded them also of the wonderful things the Almighty God, did for them, and how He delivered them from bondage in the land of Egypt. At the end, he told them to choose this day, whom they will serve, either the gods which their fathers served while in the strange land, or the Almighty God, who delivered them from bondage and have done so much for them. Joshua concluded that as for him and his house, they will serve the Lord. The people responded that they also and their households, will serve the Lord, for all the great things He has done for them.
Ladies and Gentlemen, do you know that the Lord has done great things for you? The life you are living today is by His grace. There are many battles raging in the spirit, day and night, contending for your life, but the Lord has been the one protecting you. Many times, you have passed through routes which some others went through and never got to their destinations, but the Lord saw you through.
The Lord's faithfulness over our lives, cannot be quantified. He paid the price for our redemption with His own Blood, on the Cross of Calvary. Yet, many have turned their backs on Him, serving and bowing down to other gods.
The Lord is today reminding you of the numerous things He has done for you. He is reminding you of how He has been caring for you, providing for you and protecting you from all dangers and from the snares of the wicked ones. And now He says, choose you this day whom you will serve, either Him the Almighty God, through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, or those secret cults and societies and false prophets and diviners. But I can boldly declare to the Almighty God, that as for me and my house, we will serve Him, all the days of our lives.
Rejecting the Lord, is rejecting life, and choosing death. The Lord declares that you having gone through this message, He is placing before you life and death, blessing and cursing, but cautions you to choose Life, that you may live (Deuteronomy 30:15-20).
Accepting Jesus Christ, into your heart as your Lord and Savior, is choosing Life, and rejecting Him and His free gift of salvation, is choosing DEATH, therefore surrender your life to Him today as your Lord and Savior that you may live and have the hope of eternal life in His Kingdom.
