Are You Humble?

in HeartChurch5 years ago (edited)

It is very necessary to note that you cannot do anything whatsoever, without the grace of God being available to you. We have no power/ strength of our own and whatever we will ever achieve in life is not by our power or skill but a function of God's grace alone. However, God gives His grace to humble people only. Which leads to my question; are you a humble person?

Luke 14:11 "For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."

Luke 14:7 - And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,
14:8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
14:9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
14:10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

As far as you are a human being, born of a woman, there is that tendency for you to exhibit pride at one point or the other. Oftentimes, some persons see the things they have as a leverage for them to feel and see themselves better than others who have little or nothing. But forgetting that all they have was given to them by God. There's nothing you have that was not given to you by God so, there's no need to be proud. It is only a privilege that God has chosen to bless you with those things. The more reason we should shun pride; God hates it and hates those who are prideful.

No one likes a proud person and generally in our world today, someone who is humble tends to gain more respect and honour than someone who is always proud. Also, people always tend to ridicule a proud person. Now take this into consideration, if we humans dislike proud people, how much more God?

Pride is a destroyer. Pride has caused many both in our present times and in the days of old valuable things and possession. It was pride that led to queen Vashti's dethronement. It was same pride that took kingship away from Saul. On the other hand, humility makes a man and exalts him. So friends, choose humility and remain humble irrespective of what you may have.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Sort:

The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all when we chose to humble ourselves before God almighty.
