I can imagine the anguish and fear you felt when the situation worsened instead of improving, and that is when we need to learn to trust God, it is not an easy task, I think it is a training for life.
When in the end it all ends we realize that the amount of energy we spent on worry and fear was unnecessary because God is always faithful to his children and helps us and responds; may the Lord help us to overcome confidence learning soon.
