Here is a shot I created a while back with my significant other using my favourite office chair mat. Unfortunately the mat I used to create this set was repurposed to be keep the rain off the Guinea Pigs and has subsequently smashed so I can no longer make these shots.....bad times.
For these shots I held up the chair mat using 2 light stands with clamps to prevent it from moving. Next up I compose the shot ensuring the mat fills all of the frame and ask Lauren to stand behind with her hands up. Once happy with the composition I turn off the lights and get started.
I fire the shutter and take my www.lightpaintingbrushes.com black fiber optic brush with an orange gel and brush it around Lauren. The light from which provides background separation and highlights her form. Next up a popped the beauty dish from either side to illuminate her and replace the lens cap. Next up move to tripod two where I remove the lens cap and drag my digital light want up and down slowly. This gives the little white dashes which I like to add which I feel gives more depth and another layer to the image. Finally I hold up my son's coat which has a really cool grid pattern inside. I illuminated it with a blue gelled torch which contrasts with the orange from the fiber optics.
Here are a few more shots I have made over the years with my beloved chair mat...Rest in Pieces.
With added leaves for an autumnal vibe with Lauren modelling again.
I wish I could draw this well but I'm shocking with at it. I suppose practice makes perfect.
My son kindly helped out with this one and held still for the length of the exposure. Good lad!
I liked how the pattern came out on this one. Reminded me of Mammatus Clouds.
All single long exposure images creates in complete darkness during a long exposure.

I've come across some light painting posts since I joined Hive last year, and each time I'm more and more interested. Each one is more... I don't how to describe, more artistic I guess, some really interesting results that amaze me. Some parts really look like drawings and I already read that they're not 😅 awesome
Aww. Thanks very much and I'm glad our lightpaintings have caught your eye. There is a whole world of creative outpourings from our group on here. Many of which I mention at the bottom of my post. I'm glad you like what you see and thanks for your kind comments. Happy days :)
Cracking shots mate. The pic where you drawing your hand is one of my favourite light paintings ever.
Cheers buddy. It's a big fave of mine too. Someone thought I had actually drawn it so job done there :)
