A while back I got a bit obsessed with trying to make objects appear within other objects (photographically speaking!). This is @fadetoblack and his sadly now defunct famous furry parka:
For this shot we positioned two softboxed flashguns either side of Tim making sure that the light didn't spill over the sides in to the space in the middle and fired the flash three times. Before each flash, the focal length was changed to make the furry parka appear as though it was inside the other one. Thanks to Tim for the help with this one and his patience keeping so still between flashes, not to mention wearing a hoodie on backwards so as not to expose his face!! Above and beyond!!
I've since shot more stuff with focal length changes:
This is what happens if you use the same technique but with a single continuous light located at the back of the frame, stepping the focal length along the way:
This is what happens when you zoom from one focal length straight to the other with the lens cap off (from 16mm to 35mm):
And my latest attempt at this technique, placing a continuous light source behind a circuit board and zoom pulling the light: (You have to be quick to replace the lens cap for the other parts of the shot here)
As usual, all of the above images were created in one photographic exposure and are not Photoshop creations.
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.

Yay, Parka 2.0 lol. I'd love to reshoot this zoom pull with a few bells and whistles added in, hopefully soon!
The Parka is primed and ready:)
