Lightpainting with fireworks is not for the faint of heart and once you've lit the firework you have to commit to the shot and keep going regardless! That being said I take all necessary precautions and haven't set anyone or anything on fire.....yet! @neilru75 will testify that he's been very close to igniting however!
This is a sample selection where we've gone a little nuts with a firework:
Here I've mixed a mid exposure zoom pull with a firework; this is a "three man job" One to spin the firework, one to bravely model without flinching or any movement at all and me on the camera zoom pulling at the right moment. With this shot I started "zoom in" with a longer focal length to make the silhouette bigger while the firework spins, then once the firework has spent, I zoom out in steps to get this result:
In the "Graff Factory", a local abandoned building full of graffiti which was until recently accessible; now it's been locked up tight ready for demolition.... I added a strip of LED's and a cheap laser pen in to the mix:
"Say cheese" Another shot from the Graff Factory with @inksurgeon doing his best not to flinch while I set off pyrotechnics!
I realise this may look as if I was obsessed with trying to set the @inksurgeon on fire!
As usual, all of the above images were shot in photographic exposure and are not Photoshop creations.
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
