Kamel Al-Wazir, Transportion Minister, the Industry and Trade Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister of Egypt, received Ambassador Gareth Bayley, British Ambassador in Cairo, and discussed the opportunities for future cooperation in the fields of Industry, Green Hydrogen (Green Hydrogen is the Hydrogen produced by splitting the water with electrolysis) and Renewable Energy.

At the beginning of the meeting, the British Ambassador in Cairo congratulated Kamel Al-Wazir on assuming the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and adding the Industry to his portfolio alongside the Transport.
Kamel Al-Wazir said the depth of Egyptian-British relations is pointing towards the aspiration for more joint cooperation, especially in the field of industry, because Egypt is open for all the countries of the world, including European countries and Britain, for the business with favorable terms and requirements.
The British Ambassador agreed on the importance of cooperation with the Egyptian side in all fields, including the transport and industry sector, reviewing a number of British projects and factories in Egypt. He shared with the Deputy Prime Minister that British companies are also interested in cooperation with Egyptians in the field of Hydrogen and renewable and clean energy. Minister said he is looking forward for the possible cooperation in the field of localizing the mobile units industry in Egypt.
The talks dealt with the latest developments in cooperation in the Monorail project (east and west of the Nile), where the British provided funding for the project, and the importance of the monorail project, which is being implemented in Egypt for the first time, emphasized as a major cultural shift in mass transportation, which are fast, modern and safe means, saves fuel consumption, reduces environmental pollution rates, reduces traffic jams in axes and main streets, and attracts passengers to use it instead of private cars to reduce fuel consumption.
Also pointing out that it is planned to operate the trial operation of the East Nile monorail without passengers from the control center in the Administrative Capital to the Moshir Mosque station next October.
They also discussed the latest developments related to activating the industrial and commercial partnership agreement to enhance cooperation in the industrial and logistics fields signed in 2022, and the memorandum of understanding signed in 2021 to enhance cooperation in the field of research and development in technology and advanced industries.
In conclusion this meeting was one of the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the UK and Egypt, particularly in sustainable and clean energy sectors.
