It had been published that Jari-Matti Latvala will step into a part-time role as the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Principal in the 2025 season. This marks a very exciting change from his current full-time commitment, allowing him to maintain his influential position while also extending his career as a rally driver. He is a successful rally driver with a deep understanding of WRC’s dynamics. Latvala has led Toyota since 2021, contributing to the team’s impressive results and amazing atmosphere.
Latvala’s hands-on approach, combined with his own rally experience, has strengthened Toyota’s strategy, and even in a reduced role, his insight will continue to shape their performance. This decision shows Toyota’s confidence in their existing team framework, trusting that the foundation built under Latvala’s guidance will keep the team competitive.
With him being a part time Team Principal it leaves an open question: who will take over his work while he’s competing?
